Islamic Tourism
Islamic tourism is one of the oldest and most prosperous past and present tourism around the world, which is not hindered by climatic difficulties or bad weather, and its antiquity dates back to the Islamic culture itself. With its cultural, historical and religious facilities, Iran has a high potential in attracting Muslim tourists, which has been proven in recent years.
According to the statistics of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, in 2019, the countries with the most tourists entering Iran were from the countries of the region Iraq, Republic of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, India, China, Georgia, Russia, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Italy, the UAE and France had the highest number of trips to Iran, respectively Iraqi passengers increased by 21% compared to last year, and after establishment of entry without visa between Iran and Oman the rate increased about 90%. This information shows the interest of region tourists for traveling to Iran and the high potential travel of foreign tourists to Iran, which is needed after the end of the Covid-19 epidemic to revive the Iranian tourism market.
